Pascal Gross is enjoying his best scoring season in the Premier League since his debut season for Brighton and Hove Albion back in 2017/18. The German has been influential for every manager he has played under on the south coast, so let’s take a look at what makes him ‘The £3m bargain.’

Continue readingEnock Mwepu made a sensational return to first team action with a superb performance capped off by a goal and an assist after three months out with a hamstring injury.
The Zambian stroked in a sublime half-volley on 66 minutes from Premier League debutant Moises Caicedo’s cross, helping Brighton and Hove Albion to their first victory in eight games. It was a goal that would have been talked about for years had the Arsenal invincibles scored it, with the impressive Marc Cucurella, Alexis Mac Allister and Caicedo all involved in the silky build up and ending with Mwepu’s clinical finish into the bottom right-hand corner.
Various injuries and illness have restricted Mwepu’s game time since his summer move from RB Salzburg. The 24-year-old has been involved in six goals in his eight league starts, with four assists coming in his last five games to add to his goal at the Emirates on Saturday.
Albion have lacked goals from midfield this season and will welcome Mwepu’s return with open arms. He was joined in midfield by Malian international Yves Bissouma and debutant Caicedo for the trip to Arsenal and provided much needed energy and drive going forward. It was the Zambian himself who received Lewis Dunk’s long ball forward in the first half to tee up Leandro Trossard for the opening goal. His athleticism and knack for getting in and around the box could help Albion add more goal contributions around the pitch.
Albion will be hoping Mwepu can keep himself fit for the remaining games, as he has proved his importance to the team in his maiden Premier League season already.

Brighton and Hove Albion have begun the 21/22 season in fantastic form. Through to round three of the EFL Cup (third round tie tonight v Swansea, 7:30pm) and sitting fourth in the Premier League after five games represents Albion’s best start to a top flight season.
